Headline flaws

Dear Editor:
I hope that the Sept. 8 headline is not indicative of the Reporter coverage of this election cycle. Let me point out three major flaws in your article: First, Tim Occhipinti is the biggest perpetuator of the “new timers” versus “old timers” myth. He has used this divide to his advantage, with his constituents suffering the consequences.
Second, Britney has so much respect for the political system in Hoboken that she only registered to vote here less than a year ago (a fact pointed out on Timmy’s Facebook page), but now feels she is qualified to represent the residents of Hoboken. Really?
And third, and very important, is that the Reporter printed a false assumption about the socio-economic status of Zimmer supporters, while completely ignoring the wealth of Occhipinti supporters such as Frank “Pupie” Raia and Beth Mason, as well as the numerous long-time residents who have amassed huge fortunes while living in subsidized housing. Don’t discount the working-class supporters of the reform movement currently headed by Dawn Zimmer.

Thank you
Shane Nelson
