NB, Guttenberg to hold annual 9/11 memorial services

NORTH BERGEN AND GUTTENBERG — Mayor Nicholas Sacco will host North Bergen’s annual 9/11 Memorial and Remembrance Service on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in front of North Bergen High School, 7417 Kennedy Blvd.
Also expected to attend are Township Commissioners, Schools Superintendent Dr. George Solter, Board of Education members, Police Chief Robert Dowd, members of the North Bergen Police Department, and other local leaders and law enforcement officials.
The annual ceremony is held to remember all the victims of the terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 2001, especially three North Bergen residents who died that day, as well as a fourth who was killed in action in Afghanistan.
Local religious leaders will offer an invocation and prayers, and the North Bergen High School Marching Band will play taps at the ceremony.
Guttenberg will also hold a 9/11 remembrance ceremony on Wednesday, at 7:30 p.m., in front of Town Hall, 6808 Park Ave.
“We lost two Guttenberg residents on 9/11 and we recognize them at this ceremony each year,” said Mayor Gerald Drasheff. –Joseph Passantino
