Extremely proud but humble

Dear Editor:
As a participant for many years in the Jersey City Puerto Rican Heritage Parade we must commend this year, the 53rd Annual Parade and all of the events surrounding the parade. I must thank the committee for choosing me as the Goodwill Ambassador of this year’s parade and I was extremely proud but humble to hold that title.
We must commend and thank Luis Lebron, Parade Chair, his wife Talena Lebron and all of the persons instrumental in making all of the events leading up to the parade a grand success; Emberh Scherry, Jaritza Cruz, Wanda Rodriquez and Ray Benitez.
The luncheon introducing the year’s honorees, the flag raisings, the gala event on the Friday prior to the parade and the parade and festival were all part of the proud display of the Puerto Rican heritage and the many years of contributions to the city of Jersey City by those from the island. We were most certain that Father Joseph Faulkner, the priest who assisted many of the people who came from Puerto Rico to Jersey City in the 1960s and who I had the honor of working with was looking down on us with pride.
We thank all in our city who participated in the events and look forward to many more years of participation in the best parade in the State of New Jersey, the Jersey City Puerto Rican Heritage Parade.

Sincerely,
Robert B. Knapp
