Funeral services took place Aug. 9 for Phyllis Jones, 82, a long time resident of Jersey City. She passed away Aug. 1. Phyllis worked previously for Christ Hospital and retired after 25 years of service from Block Drug Company. She was the mother of Dr. Jennifer Jones; former wife of Alvin Jones; granddaughter of the late Clark and ida B. Tolbert; daughter of Kirkwood and Florida Hicks; sister of Kirkwood Hicks, Jr. (wife Artelia), Milton Hicks (wife Jacqueline), Marjorie Gomez (husband Henry), Florida West (husband Raymond), and Harold Hicks (wife Barbara); aunt of Lamar, Ramon, Ramona, Christine and many other nieces and nephews; special mom to god children and best friend to many other loved ones. Phyllis was also and active member of Ecclesia Ministries and was greatly loved by her church family and special church children, who called her “Mom Jones.” Services arranged by the Greenville Memorial Home, Jersey City.
