JERSEY CITY — A 28-year-old man was charged with murder and unlawful possession of a knife last Friday after he allegedly stabbed his wife, also 28, in their Bergen Avenue apartment around 11:30 p.m.
According to published reports, the man made his first court appearance on Tuesday morning.
Hudson County Superior Court Judge Paul DePascale continued his bail, set at $500,000 with no 10 percent cash option.
Newspaper reports said that when police arrived at the appointment Friday night, the suspect was being restrained by relatives.
The suspect was released from prison on Sept. 8, 2012, after serving 4.5 years on drug and robbery convictions.
The killing was the latest in a string of unrelated killings in Jersey City since the last week in June, more than seven in an eight-week period.
