It’s playoff time for the JCC of Bayonne’s Floor Hockey Sr. Division and the red hot (2-6) Islanders are geared up to face the (3-5) Devils. In the early going, both teams traded scores as the Devils’ Jared Radil turned a dart like pass from team captain Mackenzie Woods into a goal while the Isles’ Meghann Mock sent a clearing pass to Gabriella Bonilla who knotted the fray at 1-1. Just before the halfway point in the bout, the Devils’ Josh Greenbaum zipped in a goal that would turn out to be a game changer as the Devils’ 2-1 lead started a surge. With two assists already to her credit, the Devils’ Mackenzie Woods sailed in a goal to make it 3-1 with Greenbaum picking up an assist. Moments later, the Devils struck again as Woods assisted Drew Radil on a scoring blast to stretch the Devils’ lead to 4-1. As the Isles fought to regroup, the Devils poured it on as the “Radilators” Drew and Jared teamed up as Drew assisted Jared on his second goal to make it 5-1, Devils. The Devils scoring stampede finally concluded as Drew Radil made it 6-1 by scoring off an assist from Greenbaum. Jolted by the parade of points, the Isles regain some footing as Gabriella Bonilla assisted James Bajor on net jet from the left corner of the net. Leading 6-2, the Devils’ Colin Woods kept his goal tending gem gleaming as Woods recorded 19 saves on the day in spite of the Islanders late game push. The Isles late charge took a big hit when the Devils’ offense struck again as the hardworking Melanie Bonilla assisted Mackenzie Woods on her second goal of the game to propel the Devils lead to 7-2. With time running out, Gabriella Bonilla kept the Isles hopes alive as she tallied her second goal off an assist from Natallyah Teixeira making it 7-3, Devils. After serving in the defensive ranks for the Isles, Madison Neal Markowski and Meghann Mock joined forces to heat things up with some offensive ball hawking but the points stayed at bay. The game’s final blows were soon landed by Drew Radil who found the net for his third and forth goals of the game to inflate the Devils’ lead to 9-3. In spite of the score, a special mention must be given to the Islanders’ young lion Elliott Santana whose time at net sparked the Islanders late season turn around. With a 9-3 victory the Devils win take on the (7-1) Penguins for the Sr. Division Championship.
