Sky Club apologizes to customers, says fight at Friday night party led to man’s seizure

HOBOKEN — After much speculation from members and from residents in Hoboken, the Sky Club fitness center in the southwest corner of town posted a letter on its Facebook page late on Monday explaining why police and firefighters were called there in the wee hours of Saturday morning.
During the party, according to the letter, the Fire Department had to free people from an elevator that broke down and got stuck. The department then began taking a head count and determined the club was over capacity.
Around that time, “There was an altercation inside the club that led to a man having a seizure,” the letter reads.
A commenter on a Reporter story from yesterday paints a more detailed picture of the incident, although the veracity of the claims has not been verified by the newspaper.
Customers have been posting comments on the Facebook page asking for the club to stop allowing these types of parties.
The letter posted by the club also says that the club is back open.
