PADIN, NICOLAS J.

Funeral services were held July 22 for Nicolas J. Padin, 77, of Jersey City. He passed away July 17 at Jersey City Medical Center. Born in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Carmen Perez of Jersey City and Camilo Padin of Puerto Rico, and a lifelong resident of Jersey City. A prominent businessman, he has served the Hispanic Community of Jersey City for over 50 years.
He owned and operated the first Puerto Rican owned Travel and Insurance Agency in Jersey City, Padin Travel and Insurance Agency on Christopher Columbus Drive.
He served as a board member of the Jersey City Public Library Foundation and also appointed by former Governor William Cahill to serve on the board to the State of Commission of Hispanic Affairs. He also served as Vice President of the Alta Association of Latin American Travel Agents. He was a member of Iglesia El Shaddai, Jersey City.
He was the father of Nicolas Padin, Jr., Evelyn Padin, Esq., Jennifer Padin, Linda Padin, and Joel Nicolas Padin; brother of Carmelo “Tony” Padin; and grandfather of 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; also survived by his friend, Mercedes Buen Dia, cousins, friends, nieces and favorite nephew Tito Padin. Services arranged by the Introcaso Angelo Funeral Home, Jersey City.
