RECAP: Real Housewives of New Jersey, Season 5 Episode 7: ‘Scum’

HOBOKEN AND BEYOND — Welcome to this week’s recap of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” which often shows scenes of Hoboken, one of the towns covered by our newspaper group. This week, however, the action took place in Lake George, N.Y. (NOT named Lake Gorga, in case Joe has his usual delusions of grandeur this week.)
Let’s get right into this week’s episode. First off, Joe Giudice says that Jacqueline and Chris Laurita use their son’s autism as an “excuse.” He makes some other comments that are sure to get him in hot water, and Teresa knows it. “You don’t understand,” she notes. “I’m not a doctor,” Joe concedes. Ya think, Joe? Guess what, we’re not doctors either, but we sure as hell know you have foot in mouth disease.
Meanwhile, the Gorga/Giudice/Wakile family is planning to head to Lake George for a retreat so they can put their differences behind them. It was Teresa’s idea. Or was it Rosie’s idea? Well, really, it was Bravo’s idea.
The group takes a party bus upstate and convenes at a resort. They meet the man and woman who are going to run the exercises. Melissa Gorga says she doesn’t think “Opie and Little Miss Sunshine” know what they’re in for.
She’s probably right.
Before the pair meets the family, they discuss trying to remember their names. They decide that it’s a safe bet to just say “Joe.” Well, except if you’re talking to Rich.
Teresa, Joe Gorga, and Melissa Gorga get into a heated exchange pretty quickly. Teresa wants to blame the family tensions on what Jacqueline said at the Posche Fashion Show last year. Well, she IS partly to blame — don’t Joe and Melissa watch their own show? Anyway, Joe and Teresa fight, Melissa butts in, they fight some more, and Rosie takes Joe Giudice outside because she sees Joe getting a little tense, too.
With Joe Giudice outside, Joe Gorga calls Teresa “scum.” Teresa walks out and tells hubby Joe Giudice that she’s done, and she repeats what her brother called her.
That’s too much for Juicy Joe, who heads into the building to demand an apology from Joe Gorga. Gorga sees him come in the door and charges at him.
A fight ensues, but we need to tune in next week to see the whole brawl. We’re not doctors, but it looks like some people are going to end up with fist in stomach disease.
