HUDSON COUNTY — Though it’s been obscured by last weekend’s tragedy in San Francisco, a near-disaster on the Hudson River has caused local politicians to call for an outright ban on tourist helicopter flights.
In the wake of the river landing of a tourist helicopter that lost power shortly after takeoff, Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer and Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner, among others, have joined Congressman Albio Sires in advocating for a ban on the flights, which critics claim are dangerous and too loud.
The officials planned a press conference for today (Monday). To read our coverage from this past weekend, click here.
