The five-member Bayonne Recreation Dolphins Special Olympics swim team recently competed in the 2013 SONJ North Jersey Sectional Swim Meet. The event was held at Seton Hall University in South Orange:
25-m Freestyle: Fourth place, Elaina Walsh.
50-m Freestyle: Third place (Bronze Medal), Jovanni Torres; Second place (Silver Medal), Kaitlyn Frey; First place (Gold Medal), Thomas Gutierrez, Ian Hudacko and Elaina Walsh.
100-m Freestyle: Third place (Bronze Medal), Ian Hudacko.
50-m Backstroke: First place (Gold Medal), Kaitlyn Frey.
50-m Butterfly: Second place (Silver Medal), Thomas Gutierrez; First place (Gold Medal), Jovanni Torres.
The Dolphins are coached by John Valdora and Theresa Diaz, assisted by Sheila Hudacko. The Dolphins have qualified to move on to the 2013 SONJ Chapter Summer Games, to be held in early June at the College of New Jersey in Ewing.
