Dear Editor:
Communities and countries rise and fall together and rise and fall of a society is linked to multiple factors. Among the factors those lead a society to higher level are Rule of law, Discipline, values and Justice for all are few among many. And equally important is leadership of the society that not only enforces the rule of law but also establish a system where merit, equality and justice are the foundations of the system and these leaders then get their name in the history, so we can say that nations rise and fall with their leaders. Good and right leadership leads a country/society to higher level and bad leadership leads the other way.
Locally considering, we have been suffering from lack of true leadership for as long. We have leaders who have made politics as a career, feel no shame in involving in immoral and illegal activities, don’t hesitate in lying, cheating and manipulating the facts. Most rather all of our leaders are puppets of special interest groups. Now there is a new breed of career politicians who are think they are very clever and can easily be-fool the public.
Mayoral candidate, Steve Fulop is among the new breed of career politicians who is always in news and is always making noise about merit, ethics and play to play and other issues, but the matter of fact is he is a “HIPPO-CRATE”, who says one thing and does the opposite. Mr. Fulop’s role in appointing a Superintendent of his choice and helping his cronies in getting elected on School Board is very much clear.
Mayor Healy’s 9 years is nothing more than a nightmare. His administration is full of cronies, who are inefficient, incapable and unqualified for the job. Result a failed Government.
I have a question to the voters of Jersey City, do we need this kind of leadership. Don’t we have had enough of this kind of politicians? Can this kind of career politicians deserve to lead Jersey City? Answer is certainly “NO”. We certainly deserve better and we have an alternate now.
We are getting a chance to clean out this mess and have a fresh start by electing candidates who have credibility, integrity, passion and potential to serve and who treat city and its citizens equally and fairly.
So I urge all the concerned citizens of Jersey City to support me for my bid for Mayor of Jersey City and send a strong message to these career politicians that we don’t buy your claims anymore.
Abdul Malik
Candidate for Mayor of Jersey City
