EMS: Woman who jumped in front of PATH likely to survive; Newport station closed temporarily

JERSEY CITY AND BEYOND — A young woman is likely to survive, but is in critical condition, after jumping in front of the PATH train at the Pavonia/Newport stop on Friday morning, sources told NJ.com.
According to the story, the station was expected to be closed for several hours. The woman jumped around 11:30 a.m.
The story quoted Port Authority spokesman Ron Marsico as saying, “She’s alive and was alert when she was taken out of the station on a stretcher.”
An EMS official at Jersey City Medical Center said, “We’re optimistic about her condition. We believe she’s going to pull through.”
