HOBOKEN — Hoboken can be a little hard on Mr. Softee sometimes.
Every few years, a group of residents complains about noise — and one year, potential exhaust — from the popular ice cream truck. Yet, longtime fans say the owner, Tony, is a fixture.
Now that the weather is warmer, and several ice cream trucks have been circling town, a petition has gone up on the web to support Mr. Softee in Hoboken.
Residents in other towns have complained about ice cream truck noise over the years as well, including in Union City in 2011 and in Manhattan.
How to strike a balance? Among people who are hot and cool on the issue, is there a creamy middle?
Seriously, what can be done to break the ice?
