Dear Editor:
Noise pollution is a growing concern for those of us who live in or near cities. The assault of the loud sounds drowns out all other experiences and causes mental and physical damage. Why is it necessary to permit this to occur on a daily basis to hundreds of thousands of people?
Living in cities requires careful regulation to sustain a decent life quality for all. The density of life means that we have to create a civil environment so people can live, work, create and enjoy life under conditions where all must live in harmony.
There is no good reason to permit a business to assault this quality of life and there are few reasons why a government should intrude with such noise.
Please do something to help limit this violation of a civilized existence in the Lower Hudson River regions.
Thank you for your attention to this.
Yours truly,
Arline J. Lederman, Ph.D
