Three involved in alleged meth lab
Hoboken Police Sgt. Sam Williams confirmed last week that Jessica Springman, Cynthia Rivera, and Leonardo Pons were arrested on Monday in a Hoboken Housing Authority building for their alleged involvement in a methamphetamine lab after police responded to a report of a family disturbance. Springman, Rivera, and Pons were charged with the manufacture, distribution, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
According to the police report, $1,073 cash was found in a garbage can in the bathroom as well as an assortment of glass pipes allegedly containing burned residue, a homemade bong made out of a plastic bottle, and a hose.
Rivera, who was not in her apartment at the time of the police visit, apparently placed calls to the police station to “ascertain what transpired in her apartment,” the police report said. Rivera assured police she would come to the station, but instead placed more calls, each time allegedly changing the details of her story, the report said. A sergeant was able to get an address where Rivera was staying, the report said, and she was later arrested. The report said she was allegedly in possession of a glass tube cylinder with copper meshing commonly used to smoke a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) in the pocket of her coat.
According to the report, detectives later searched the apartment under a warrant and found equipment and ingredients allegedly used to produce methamphetamine in the kitchen, bathroom, and bedrooms. The report also said that detectives found dozens of prescription medications including a variety of pills, plastic bags with white powder and crystal rock, and price lists and instructions on how to make GHB and methamphetamine.
According to police, Springman had three open warrants and Rivera had open warrants.
Rivera was the sole lessee on the apartment, but – according to the police report – the other two told police that they had rented a room from her for $100 on Friday and $75 on Saturday, which is in violation of HHA guidelines.
Different kind of pot charge
Police responded to a report of assault at a downtown Chinese food restaurant on Thursday, March 28 around 9:39 p.m. Police found the male victim with a large contusion on his head. The victim said that a verbal disagreement over tips led to a “shoving match” and that he was allegedly struck by another male employee in the head with a metal pot, the police report said.
The victim said that Kia S. Bao allegedly struck him several times with a metal pot, the report said. Bao, 42, of New York, was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, reports said. A metal pot on the table was seized as evidence, the report said. Bao allegedly has numerous outstanding traffic warrants, the police report said.
Woodstock old-timer fingers alleged marijuana smoker
Police were dispatched on Saturday, March 30 around 10:50 a.m. after an anonymous call reported a suspicious male at a Hudson Place business. The caller said the unknown male allegedly “kept walking in and out and behaving suspiciously,” the police report said.
The caller also said that the suspect allegedly smelled of marijuana, adding, “I’m sorry, but it’s a familiar smell. I’m an old-timer; I went to Woodstock,” the report said.
Police approached Ephrain Diaz after the caller pointed him out to police, the report said, and police detected the aroma of raw marijuana allegedly emanating from Diaz. Diaz was placed under arrest and searched.
According to the police report, 22 plastic bags were found on Diaz along with three smaller bags and three pocket-size clear Ziploc bags bundled with green vegetation alleged to be marijuana. A pocket-sized digital scale camouflaged as a cellular phone was also found on Diaz, the report said.
Diaz was charged with manufacturing or distributing a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possessing CDS within 500 feet of a public park, dispensing or possession with intent to distribute, possession, use or being under the influence of CDS, use or possession with intent to use paraphernalia, obstructing administration of law, and failure to appear in court.
Jewelry and $15,000 cash reported stolen from closet
Police responded on Monday, April 1 to a report of a burglary in a Willow Avenue apartment. The victim said that someone gained access to her apartment and allegedly stole cash and jewels while she was at work, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3:19 p.m.
The victim told police a black bag containing money and a box containing jewels had been taken from the closet. The victim reported that she was missing seven gold bracelets, 15 gold rings, two watches, and $12,500 in cash. The value of the 18K gold and diamond jewels totaled $15,000, according to the police report.
There were no signs of forced entry and no receipts for the stolen items, according to the police report.
Party’s over
A Willow Terrace resident called police complaining of loud music from a nearby apartment on Sunday, March 31 around 12:37 a.m. Police knocked on the door of the apartment from which the music was coming, the report said, and asked the occupant to lower the volume. Police issued a summons for allegedly maintaining a disorderly house to Jason J. Collins.
According to the police report, two other party guests, Brian A. Corcoran and Craig J. Corcoran of Larchmont, N.Y., were each issued a summons for disorderly conduct after allegedly acting belligerent and screaming in the street. The party was then shut down.
Alleged PCP in the stairwell
Raul Reveron and Angelo Santiago, both of Hoboken, were charged with defiant trespass-verbally advised after police received an anonymous call around 10:25 p.m. on Sunday, March 31 alleging that two males were using a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) in the stairwell of a Sixth Street apartment. According to the police report, police spotted two males near the location who appeared to have trouble standing. The men stumbled, then attempted to go north, crossing Sixth Street, when police drove over to them, the report said. The males were allegedly swaying, losing balance, not making sense and had bloodshot eyes, the report said.
Assault with a mirror?
Police were flagged down on March 31 around 3:30 a.m. near Fourth and Jefferson Street when a female told police a group of men had allegedly assaulted her boyfriend, the police report said.
Jason Arteaga-Loayza was arrested for aggravated assault and hindering. Christopher Torruellas and Helio Resto Jr. were both charged with aggravated assault, and Torruellas was also issued a summons for driving while suspended and driving with an open container of alcohol. A fourth male, Miguel A. Zayas, was arrested for multiple warrants only.
The female told police, according to the report, that her daughter had friends over and a group of males allegedly got in a fight with her boyfriend and he was allegedly struck with a mirror. The female said the group then left the apartment but allegedly attacked her boyfriend again outside in the street.
Men arrested after questioning
Maurice A. Outlaw of Jersey City was charged with defiant trespass and being under the influence, and Angel L. Romero-Corraliza of Yonkers, N.Y. was charged with defiant trespass and possession of CDS (marijuana) on Thursday, March 28, after police spotted two males standing near a Fifth Street and Marshall Drive building, facing one another and holding hands. According to the police report, one male appeared to be holding the other male to keep from falling.
Police reports said Romero-Corraliza had red bloodshot eyes and mumbled inaudibly. The smell of marijuana and phencyclidine allegedly emanated from Outlaw, the police report said.
Police contacted dispatch for an ambulance for Outlaw who allegedly could not stand, walk, or form complete words, according to the police report.
