Proud of Mayor Healy

Dear Editor:
I am a resident of Jersey City and my country of origin is the Philippines. I am proud of my city and moreover am proud to have Jerramiah T. Healy as our mayor.
It is to be noted that Mayor Healy attempted to appoint an Asian American, the honorable Carlo Abad as the city’s first Asian chief municipal judge. Mr. Abad’s appointment by our mayor would not just have been of a Filipino American but of a qualified member of the bar. At the same time Radames “Ray” Valazquez would have been appointed to fill in the vacancy of Judge Abad in the court.
Unfortunately, Mr. Fulop, a councilmanmember joined by councilmember Rolando Lavarro orchestrated an anti-vote against the appointment of these two qualified and distinguished gentlemen. This is a disgrace and shame and just demonstrates the use of politically based dealings to operate against the best interests of the residents of Jersey City.
It is so evident that Mayor Healy attempts to unite all of our diverse population where his opposition as cited above completes all within their power to separate people.

Sincerely,
Norbert Ocampo
