A funeral mass was celebrated March 27 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Bloomfield, for James W. Dow, 83, of Bloomfield. He passed away March 25,at Mountainside Hospital, Glen Ridge. Mr. Dow was born in Weehawken and lived in Union City and then Weehawken for thirty years before moving to Bloomfield twenty years ago. He was an accountant at Witco Chemical Corp., Woodcliff Lake for twenty four years before retiring in 1992. He was in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1952 to 1959. Mr. Dow was an elected Weehawken Township Councilman serving two terms from 1975 to 1982. He was a former member of the Weehawken Elks. He was a loyal New York Mets Fan. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Dow; his children, Lori Dow Moore and her husband Stephen, Linda Shertel and her husband John and Lois Pannella and her husband Oscar; his brother Daniel Dow; and his grandchildren Courtney, Casey, Cassidy, Lora and her husband Joseph Dwyer III, Tara, Cody, Sydney and Kayla. Mr. Dow was predeceased by his five siblings. Services arranged by the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley.
