Frey, Walsh lead special Dolphins to victory

Kaitlyn Frey and Elaina Walsh recently led a five-member contingent representing the Bayonne Recreation Dolphins Special Olympics Swim Team by capturing a total of seven first-place blue ribbons at the 2013 S.O.H.C. Area 1 and S.O.B.C. Area 12 dual swim meet. The event was contested at the Bruce D. Walters Recreation Center Pool in Union City. The results are as follows:
25-m freestyle: First place, Kaitlyn Frey and Elaina Walsh.
50-m freestyle: First place, Kaitlyn Frey, Thomas Gutierrez, Jovanni Torres, Elaina Walsh; second place, Ian Hudacko.
100-m freestyle: First place, Ian Hudacko; second place, Jovanni Torres.
50-m backstroke: First place, Kaitlyn Frey; second place, Thomas Gutierrez.
25-m butterfly: First place, Ian Hudacko.
50-m butterfly: First place, Thomas Gutierrez and Jovanni Torres.
The Dolphins’ afternoon was capped off by the following blue ribbon-winning relay squads:
4×50-m freestyle: Elaina Walsh, Jovanni Torres, Ian Hudacko, and Thomas Gutierrez.
4×50-m medley: Back, Kaitlyn Frey; breast, Thomas Gutierrez; fly, Jovanni Torres; and free, Ian Hudacko.
The Dolphins were accompanied to the meet by their very proud Coach John Valdoraa, who was ably assisted by Sheila Hudacko, Tony Torres and Anita Nedswick. The athletes who placed first, second or third have qualified to participate in the 2013 S.O.N.J. North Jersey Section Swim Meet at Seton Hall in late April.
