JERSEY CITY – Police shot and killed a man late Friday night on Fowler Avenue in Jersey City after responding to complaints that a man had barricaded himself in a residence on Fowler, according to a report on NJ.com. After responding to the call, police shot the man three times. He later died of his injuries at Jersey City Medical Center.
A police officer who received minor injuries during the incident was also treated at Jersey city Medical Center and released, according to the web site report.
The shooting and the initial complaint that led to calls to the police are under investigation, according to NJ.com.
An updated report said that the man may have suffered from long-term mental health problems, and allegedly attempted to attack a police officer with a knife.
