Reading the article in Secaucus Reporter, Jan. 13 2013 “Not a Happy Ending” I have a few disturbing observations. The article mentioned massage parlors in Secaucus were shut down for fire code violations, and health violations. The inspector found mattresses, and apparently employees slept there. The places were not busted for prostitution in spite of the fact they were advertised as erotic massage in various papers. Town Administrator David Drumeler was quoted as saying it is easier to send in inspectors then bust for prostitution. Is this a good criteria for busting these places. Have local officials heard of human sex trafficking. People sleeping on floor on premises to me make me suspect these woman may be slaves. Has the officials looked into this possibility? Does anyone care? Or are these woman just being written off as just prostitutes anyway?
Sorry to take the hard line but human trafficking is a serious life and death issue. These woman might be just transferred to another sight. And their possible misery continues. It is much better to send undercover police to bust for prostitution for the womens sake.
Sorry to be cynical but there are two go go bars in Hudson County with so called VIP rooms (anyone knows that means prostitution) that continue to operate. They too may be human trafficking locations. Who knows???
Human slavery should be abhorred and fought with every legal effort. I hope my suspicions are wrong on this. But I ask, has any Secaucus officials considered that human sex traffickers are in Secaucus?
