Funeral mass took place Jan. 16 at Holy Child Church, Staten Island, for Rosario Capo, 94, affectionately known as “Russ.” He passed away Jan. 12 at his home. Born in Jersey City, the son of the late Catherine and Luigi Capo, he lived there until moving to Staten Island, New York in 2009. He was a driver for 47 years with McLean Trucking Company, Kearny until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of Teamsters Local 641, Kearny. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. On April 4, 1942, he married the love of his life, Gertrude “Trudy” Santora at Holy Rosary Church, Downtown Jersey City. They were married for 57 years when she passed away on Oct. 29, 1999. Russ was the father of Catherine Capo Rosenberg, Russell Capo and Ann Marie Capo Fugetta and her husband Victor; brother of Michael Capo and the late John Capo and Maria Capo Serino; grandfather of four and great grandfather of two.
