A funeral mass was offered Jan. 9 at St. Francis R.C. Church, Hoboken, for Vincent ‘Vinny’ Joseph D’Agostino, 76. He passed away Jan. 5 at Hoboken University Medical Center. Vinny was born and raised in Hoboken and was a lifelong resident. Mr. D’Agostino was a 35 year employee of the Hoboken school district, working first in the transportation division and primarily as the district attendance officer where he was well known and respected for being fair and reasonable in working with families of public school children throughout the city. He also was the treasurer of the Steve Cappiello Association and served on the Hoboken Zoning Board during a period of revitalization and renaissance for the city he loved. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed the music of Frank Sinatra and Jimmie Roselli and enjoyed arts and crafts as well as a lifelong passion for cooking. Vinny was the husband of 56 years to his wife Joan D’Agostino; father of Diane D’Agostino and the late Joann D’Agostino; grandfather of the late Gabriela ‘Gabby’ Taglieri, Grant Saunders, Tyler Saunders, and Ryan. Vinny was predeceased by brothers Salvator and Bernard and sister Josephine who were very much a part of his life. Services arranged by the Failla Memorial Home, Hoboken.
