Craigslist sex ad leads to trouble

NORTH BERGEN – According to North Bergen Police Sgt. David Dowd, a robbery occurred on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at approximately 12:16 p.m. on Grand Avenue. Sergeant Dowd said a 25-year-old man from Paterson allegedly went to that location have a sexual encounter in exchange for money, after reading a Craigslist advertisement.
When the victim arrived, a man and woman allegedly robbed him using a boxcutter-style razor blade to threaten him. No injuries were reported.
Two township residents, both 34 years of age, were taken to the Hudson County Jail in Kearny.
The man was charged with robbery, promoting prostitution, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. His bail is $1,500 cash, $2,500 with a 10 percent cash option and $20,000 cash/bond.
The woman was also charged with robbery and promoting prostitution. Her bail was set at $50,000 with no ten percent cash option.
