‘Did I miss something?’

To the Editor:

We have all seen the sign, “If you can read this, thank a teacher.” The intended message is intense and significant.
Still, if this was a topic on the agenda at the meeting on Dec. 13, the probable response from the Board of Education would no doubt be “So?” to this message. This would seem to be a dismissive approach.
Last year, the Board of Estimates was utilized to placate teachers by espousing a two percent tax increase. Suddenly, school buildings were in danger, roofs had holes, heating units had to be replaced, etc.
Is there an account of expenditures? Who were the contractors? What is the price of a child’s education and well-being?
Did I miss something?
