Library holds holiday celebration

The community came together for yet another of the town’s Christmas events at the North Bergen Free Public Library on Dec. 1. Children of all ages came to enjoy games, snow cones, goodie bags and a free photo with Old Saint Nick.
Mother Nathalie Guillabert who took her 10-month-old daughter Addyson wanted to make it a memorable first Christmas.
“[It’s] Christmas spirit so we figured we’d come and take a photo with Santa,” said Guillabert.
Library Director Sai Rao recalls the Holiday Celebration taking place for 20 years.
“One of our goals at the library is to bring families together,” said Rao. “We also want people to know that it’s not just books, it’s also like a community center.”
Mayor Nicholas Sacco who was also in attendance believes in Rao’s message to have the library as a community center.
“This is just another great thing that Sai Rao does to make it a community center,” said Mayor Sacco. “It reaches a lot of children.”
The event was also parent approved as one mother said that it’s important because it gives “them a sense of community.”
The North Bergen High School’s chorus provided Christmas carols for the children to start off the festivities for the night.
Not to be forgotten were the many games that were provided by Extravaganza Entertainment. The games ranged from arcade basketball to air hockey to a Nintendo Wii dance game.
“The kids love everything we do,” said owner Scott Lapain.
