A funeral service took place Dec. 15 at The First Presbyterian Church of Rutherford for Paul M. Christian, 100, of Jersey City, formerly of India. He passed away Dec. 9 surrounded by his family. He was born to Makan and Kasan Christian in 1912. Paul was the postmaster for the Bharuch Post Office in Bharuch, Gujarat, India, prior to coming to the United States, where he settled in Hoboken and lived independently for many years, well into his 90s. He was an active member of the Community Church of Hoboken. He later lived with his daughter Vila in Jersey City who cared for him each day and he visited his daughter Sheela in California often.
Paul is predeceased by his wife Gunvanti Bhagat (1945). He will be missed by his children, Vila Tamna and Sheela M. Gima, his five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brothers; Moses Christian, John Christian and his sisters; Phebbie Christian and Shanti Christian. Services arranged by the Collins Calhoun Funeral Home, Rutherford.
