HOBOKEN — Hoboken Police Capt. Fitzsimmons gave a statement before 3 p.m. on the alleged connection between Hoboken and the suspected Newtown, Connecticut school shooter, whose name has been reported by major media outlets as Ryan Lanza. The name has not been independently confirmed.
Outside of a residence that is being searched at 13th and Grand streets, Fitzsimmons said that it is not confirmed that Lanza lived at the residence, but that a relative may live there.
He also said that no murder took place at that location, despite a neighbor’s assertion that the man’s father was found dead there.
Police were questioning roommates at the scene. Also, law enforcement officials were seen setting up a “robot,” which may be used to check for explosives inside a location.
Law enforcement officials have NOT confirmed that the suspect has lived in Hoboken, although there appears to be a connection.
The country’s deadliest elementary school shooting took place this morning at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.
