Dear Editor:
The following is Tom Wolfe’s letter of thanks to Mayor Gonnelli.
Mayor Gonnelli:
Just a quick note to say ‘thank you’ for your visibility and leadership before, during, and in the weeks after Hurricane Sandy. I especially appreciate your responding to my emailed requests for information almost immediately from your iPhone, and for your follow-up call afterwards, to make sure my concerns were addressed.
Notwithstanding the above, I was impressed to later learn my experiences were not unique — but that you also visited the Kroll Heights retirement community to ‘check up’ on the residents there, and offer assistance as you could.
As a professional that has travelled across the United States and lived in a variety of locations (but being relatively new to Secaucus) it is rare — but refreshing — to witness such leadership, which clearly went ‘above and beyond’.
I suspect other community members, who may perhaps be less vocal, feel the same way.
In all cases, thank you again for your efforts — keep up the great work!
Best & Respectfully
Tom Wolfe
