FOSTER, COSTELLA COLES

A celebration of the life of Costella Drucilla Coles Foster, 96, a lifelong resident of Jersey City, took place Nov. 26 at Calvary C.M.E. Church, Jersey City. She passed away peacefully on Nov. 19 at her home. Costella was a licensed beautician and also a clerk typist for the MOTBY in Bayonne and retired after 30 years. She was also an accomplished pianist/organist and directed many choirs at various churches in the Jersey City area. A true “Freedom Fighter,” Costella was a life member of the Jersey City Branch of the NAACP and served in various positions on the executive board. Costella was predeceased by her husband, Henry Foster; her parents, Christopher and Augusta Coles Sr.; sisters, Audrey Hart, Constance and Charnette Coles; and nephew Lamont Johnson. To cherish her memory: her sister, Carmeta Jackson, brother Christopher Coles, Jr., stepdaughter Marion Redicks; nephews Donald Johnson, Clyde Esq. and Calvin Hart (Ret. Det. JCPD), Christopher Coles III, niece Ashleigh Coles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Services arranged by the Watson Mortuary Service, Jersey City.
