A funeral mass was held Nov. 27 at St. Anne’s R.C. Church, Hoboken, for Rose Della Fave, a lifelong resident of Hoboken. She passed away Nov. 22 at Regent Care Nursing Home in Hackensack. Rose was the wife of Dominick, who passed away in 1958. She was also the mother of Justine, married to Jim Marianucci, and Joseph Della Fave, a former Hoboken City Councilman, married to Laurie Fabiano, and the mothering aunt and godmother of Flora (nee: Cogelia) Orefice; the grandmother of Dominick (and his wife Michelle), Jaime Rose, and Siena Della Fave and Damien Marianucci; and the Great Aunt of many, including David Orefice; Ed and Irene Smith; and Max, Mikey, and Faith Casazza. Rose was among a large and warm Settembre family, including her deceased brothers Thomas and Marco; her surviving brothers Tony and Jerry; her deceased sisters Irene Dimonde, Josephine Falcone, Grace Cogelia, and Anna Bertone; and her surviving sisters Lena Reilly and Felicia Davern. She had many nieces and nephews. Rose spent much of her time preparing meals daily for the extended family at her sister Lena’s home. Rose and Lena, along with their niece Phyllis (Dimonde) Smith were inseparable, enjoying daily meals, soap operas, and weekend shopping. Like many in her family, Rose was an ardent Yankee fan and Hobokenite. Her favorite ballplayer was Derek Jeter, and she had some moments attending Yankee games with her sister Lena, her children, and her grandchildren. In her younger days, Rose was a seamstress, working at Reiner’s and Tally Togs, and assisting at Bingo games at St. Anne’s, her lifelong parish. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. Services arranged by the Failla Memorial Home, Hoboken.
