Tedesco spurs Colts’ win

After coming up just short in their JCC of Bayonne’s Junior Division Indoor Flag Football debut, the Colts (0-1) set their sights on getting back on track as they faced the Jets. With Chris Ballance at the helm, the Colts exploded out to a 28-0 lead. Michael Tedesco rushed for two TDs and a two-point conversion in the first half. Ashley Solis added to the fireworks with a 10-yard TD toss to Erik Solis. The Colts never slowed down and when their talented rookies Nate Cintron and Damien Taylor rushed in for a two-point play and a TD, the Colts were in command.
With their offense cruising, the Colts’ defense also hit their stride as Ashley Solis (one), Erik Solis (two), and Michael Tedesco (one) joined forces to pick off four passes. Heading into the second half and down 28-0, the Jets began to gain their footing as Brian “Hot Wheels” Pipher cashed in with a 40-yard TD jaunt, set up by a Devin Herring interception. The Colts seemed poised to stretch their lead, but the Jets’ Josh Belber had other ideas as he picked off a pass at his own 5-yard line.
Still trailing 28-6, the Jets kept pounding away with their ground game as Thomas Canela, Adam Brash and Marcelino Soliman each had key runs capped off by Brian Pipher’s second TD dash. This made the game 28-12, Colts. Once again, the Colts marched down court only to be foiled by the Jets’ Kyle Arano, who pilfered a Colts’ red zone pass. After forcing the Jets to go three and out, the Colts’ Michael Tedesco rumbled full court for his third TD. When Nate Cintron zipped a two-point pass to Tedesco, the Colts had moved to (1-1) with a 36-12 victory.
