HUDSON COUNTY – Polls in New Jersey are open until 8 p.m. today.
Besides the presidential election and congressional races, Hoboken and Jersey City have local elections, and Bayonne and Hoboken have public questions on the ballot.
There are several ways to vote, because of the impact from Hurricane Sandy. Scroll down for our breaking news item from Monday at hudsonreporter.com.
In Hoboken, voters can pick any three of seven candidates running for school board.
There are also public questions on the Hoboken ballot related to: eliminating runoff elections, eliminating rent control when a tenant leaves a rental unit, and moving mayor/council elections from May to November.
In Jersey City, residents can vote in the Ward F council race.
In Bayonne, residents can also vote on a question about eliminating rent control when a tenant moves out.

Tuesday morning, in Hoboken, sources said that a woman passed out while waiting to vote at a polling place at the Wallace Primary School. They said that it took time for emergency services to get to her, but that she was revived and treated.
In Jersey City, a resident wrote that there was no voting machine at her Ward C polling place when she went to vote, and that some residents left when it took too long for the machine to show up.
She wrote:
“I am a resident of Jersey City. Today, I went to the courthouse on 550 Newark Avenue to vote at 6AM, but there was no voting booth for Ward C, District 6. The volunteers worked hard to have one delivered and made repeated calls. It took about an hour and a half, but once it arrived, the volunteers had been given the wrong key. It took another half hour before they were able to get the correct key. During that time, I saw at least 10 voters leave because they had to go to work. I don’t know if this was an attempt at voter suppression or a mistake, but I would appreciate it if someone could look into the matter.”
