UNION CITY — The city of Union City, Mayor Brian Stack and the Board of Commissioners will be holding an Unveiling Ceremony for The Daniel Bermes Boulevard Brewery Historical Marker on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 12 PM on Park Avenue between 44th & 45th Streets, the exact location where the famed brewery once stood. Descendants of the family will be present. There will be live entertainment and refreshments. Everyone from the community is invited to attend.
The brewery was established in 1851 by Daniel Bermes, who emigrated to Union Hill (now Union City) from Hessen-Darmstadt in 1848 to escape the revolutions in Germany. The brewery covered 42 acres.
