A funeral service was held Oct. 9 for Carmine “Valdi” Briguglio, 76, of Newton. He passed away Oct. 3. Carmine was born in Sicily, Italy and came to the United States in 1952. He was a ballroom dance teacher and owner of Imperial Dance Studio in Union City, known as ‘Valdi’ to all his students. He was the father to Rosanna Acosta and her husband Enrique; longtime companion and sweetheart to Jacquelyn Hescock and her children Laura Hescock Skaggs and her husband Mark, Halayn Hescock and Ted Sondergaard, and Nathan Hescock and Julie McKeeff. Carmine is also survived by many family, friends, and students. He will always be remembered for his love and devotion to animals. Services arranged by the A.K. Macagna Funeral Home, Cliffside Park.
