Humbled by hometown

Dear Editor:
I am truly thankful for the wonderful tribute I received recently with the dedication ceremony of Paul Amico Way, formerly New County Road. It is humbling to have a street in your hometown named in your honor, and I am grateful that the town and the county saw fit to do this while I am here to see it.
Many thanks to Mayor Mike Gonnelli and the town council for suggesting my name, and to County Executive Tom DeGise and the Board of Freeholders for changing the name of this county road. Thanks also to the past and present public officials, department heads, town employees, residents and friends who attended the ceremony. Thank you for the very nice story and photos which appeared in your newspaper.
My 28 years as the town’s mayor were the most satisfying years of my life but we could not have accomplished half of what we were able to without the cooperation of the council, our town employees and the people of our community. I urge everyone to continue to promote the Town of Secaucus as the best place in the entire area to live and raise a family, and to continue to cooperate with the Mayor and Council in their efforts to keep it that way.

Paul Amico
