Mosquito control measures taken in Bayonne on Friday

BAYONNE — The Hudson Regional Health Commission has advised Bayonne residents that it planned to apply mosquito control larvicides by helicopter. The helicopter was scheduled to fly at low altitudes over Hudson County on Friday, Aug. 24. In the event of inclement weather or other flight restrictions, the flight would be rescheduled for the next available date.
Helicopter application sites in Bayonne include the following: at the Bayonne Golf Club, the marshes along the water at the northeastern point of the golf course; at The Peninsula at Bayonne Harbor (the former Military Ocean Terminal), the wooded area at the western end between Route 440, the access road, and Centre Street; and at the northwestern corner of Bayonne, the area west of Sunset Avenue from 54th to 56th Streets, the area between the New Jersey Turnpike and Route 440, the area within the Turnpike, Route 440, and the Conrail line, the area on the north side of the Conrail line, and the eastern side of the Route 440 ramp.
