NEW JERSEY — As we move closer to the anniversary of last year’s Hurricane Irene, the Atlantic is churning with storms and potential storms. Weather forecasters believe an existing tropical depression is likely to become Tropical Storm Joyce in the near future. The next named storm would be Tropical Storm Kirk.
While most Atlantic hurricanes don’t pose much of a threat to New Jersey and Hudson County, a direct hit could cause flooding. Such was the feared result of Irene last year, although it didn’t bear out.
