Five people allegedly robbed uptown by large group
A robbery involving five victims was reported at 11th and Maxwell Lane on Sunday, Aug. 5 at around 2 a.m.
According to police reports, the victims said that 12 to 15 people allegedly robbed them at the end of the pier. Two of the victims “appeared to have been assaulted” and were bleeding from the face as a result of being punched numerous times, police reports said.
Police reports said that two phones and a wallet were taken. The victims were transported and treated at Hoboken University Medical Center. No arrests had been made as of press time.
Alleged robbery results in the arrest of three
Police responded to a report of an armed robbery involving two victims at Seventh and Clinton streets Saturday, July 28 at approximately 3 a.m., police reports said.
After searching the area, officers came across a vehicle stopped in front of a traffic light. Police drew their guns and ordered the occupants to show their hands and exit, police reports said.
Antwan Austin, 29, East Orange, allegedly exited his vehicle with his handgun drawn and pointed it at the officers. He then allegedly threw it in the back of the vehicle and allegedly began running, but was apprehended.
Austin and Gerren Simms, 32, Irvington, were charged with robbery and unlawful possession of weapons. Brittaney Cunningham, East Orange, 27, was also arrested. She was allegedly driving the vehicle, police reports said.
Man arrested inside police HQ
Police were dispatched to a building at Park and Newark streets Friday, July 27 at approximately 6 a.m. where Usman Khan, 34, of Pennsylvania, was allegedly giving a building concierge “a hard time.” According to police reports, Khan was allegedly screaming and yelling at the concierge demanding entry to an apartment building despite allegedly not having proof that he lived there.
As police asked Khan to leave the building, he allegedly told them he would sign a complaint against the officers.
Approximately 30 minutes later, Khan was found allegedly yelling in front of the police desk in the Hoboken Police Department. Khan allegedly began to scream at an officer, telling him that he “lived here,” police reports said. Khan was placed under arrest.
