HUDSON COUNTY — Pick up this weekend’s print editions of the Reporter newspapers in Hoboken, Jersey City, Weehawken, Guttenberg, North Bergen, West New York, Union City, and Secaucus to read a host of great news stories and features, some of which you haven’t seen anywhere else!
As always, the stories appearing in our print edition will appear on the lower half of this page (hudsonreporter.com) starting on Sunday.
Here are just a few of the stories appearing in our papers:
-It’s getting closer to the anniversary of Hurricane Irene. What have officials in Hoboken and Secaucus learned, and what are they doing to prepare for the next big storm?
-It’s the 25th anniversary of a book published by the Reporter in 1987, Yuppies Invade My House at Dinnertime. Do Hoboken residents and officials still feel that there’s a division in town between newcomers and old-timers, and is anyone still using the labels? (Or just for political gain?)
-Animal shelters in this area are few, and the ones that exist are struggling to adopt out their animals. Yet, the Liberty Humane Society shelter in Jersey City has to deal with so much more now – an eminent domain issue, frequent management changes…read about it and how you can help.
-And in North Bergen, an animal rescuer has launched her own initiatives, although one of them (trap, neuter, release) has been controversial.
-Also in Jersey City, Spectra is getting ready to place its gas pipeline in Jersey City.
-Al Sullivan’s political column touches on issues in several towns, and Jim Hague delves into local sports. In a rare coincidence, Jersey City Councilman (and mayoral candidate) Steve Fulop ended up in both columns…
