A funeral mass was celebrated July 30 at Immaculate Conception Church, Secaucus, for Frank Schmitt, 67. He passed away July 26 after a battle with Leukemia. Frank was born in Jersey City to Frank and Reinelde Schmitt. He attended St. Michael’s Grammar School and high school in Union City. Frank served in the United States Air Force in Vietnam. Before retiring in 2011, Frank worked for the Veterans Administration Medical Center in New York City. Frank served as a lector at Immaculate Conception Church in Secaucus. He was an avid birdwatcher and war gamer. Frank leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Maria, son Michael and his wife Maria, son Matthew and his wife Teresa and his aunt Gladys Hammerle. Frank is survived by his two grandchildren Christopher and Rachel Schmitt. He is also survived by many relatives and friends. Frank will be deeply missed by his cats Whitey and Rosie who touched his life in a very special way. Services arranged by the Mack Memorial Home, Secaucus.
