The Christ Hospital School of Nursing (SON), recognized as a Center of Excellence in Nursing by the National League of Nursing (NLN), has been dedicated to its mission of continuing a legacy of higher education since its founding in 1890. With over 122 years of excellence in nursing education, students that graduate from the Christ Hospital School of Nursing are well prepared to enter the nursing profession.
“We are very proud of the Christ Hospital School of Nursing Class of 2012,” states Carol Fasano, MA, RN, NP, C, CNE, Dean of the Christ Hospital School of Nursing. “The face of healthcare today is changing rapidly, and the Christ Hospital School of Nursing has been taking steps to make sure our graduates are ahead of the pace. Nursing is the backbone of healthcare, and education is the cornerstone for excellence in nursing. I feel we are contributing greatly to providing high-quality healthcare; By putting students first, we are also putting patients first.”
George Popko, Executive Vice President and CFO stated in his Welcoming Address, “As the students from the Class of 2012 move onto the next stage of their career, it is heartening to know that the patients’ lives who these nurses will touch, will receive a quality of care that is exceptional. We commend all their efforts and hard work and congratulate them on a job well done.”
Speakers for the evening’s ceremony included the Invocation by The Reverend James V. Pagnotta, BA, STB, Pastor of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church; Joyce Adams, member of the Christ Hospital Board of Trustees and Chairperson of the Christ Hospital School of Nursing Advisory Committee; Glen Gaybert, PhD., President, Hudson County Community College; Lori Byrd, Ph.D., RN, CNE, a faculty member of the SON who delivered the Commencement Address; and The Reverend Kevin Morris, Director of Pastoral Care at Christ Hospital delivered the Benediction.
