UC couple charged with child abuse

UNION CITY – A Union City couple’s four children were taken from their residence and placed into the care of the state Division of Youth and Family Services, Union City Chief Brian Barrett said Thursday.
Eliyaho Nadoff, 50, and Angela Nadoff, 44, were charged with child abuse and endangering the welfare of their children, aged 3, 4, 11, and 13 after police were called to the scene on July 2 and found the family living in allegedly unsuitable conditions, Barrett said.
Police received a call from the Sip Street landlord at 5:47 p.m., and upon entering they discovered four feet of debris on the floor, exposed electrical wiring, and no working bathroom facilities, Barrett said.
The family had been using a chair with a hole in it and a bucket beneath it as a toilet, Barrett said.
DYFS removed the children from the residence and took them for medical checkups, after which they were placed in temporary foster homes, Barrett confirmed.
The parents were arraigned at Jersey City’s Central Judicial Processing court on Tuesday and no bail was set, Barrett said.
