GARRISON, LEONORA C.

A memorial service will be held on July 2, at 12 noon at St. Vincent de Paul RC Church in Dallas, Ga. for Lee Garrison, 86, of Powder Springs, Ga., formerly of Jersey City. She passed away after a sudden, brief illness on June 21with her family by her side. Lee retired to Hiram, Ga. in 1997 and lived in Jersey City for more than 70 years. Lee was employed for over 15 years at Pollack Hospital in Jersey City before her retirement in 1991.
She was a parishioner of St. Joseph RC Church, Jersey City, for many years and a parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul RC Church, Dallas, Ga. since 1997. Lee was a devoted single mother and very active in community activities as well as a tireless volunteer worker at various local programs in Hudson County, and was especially well known from working the polls in the Hudson Gardens.
Lee was an avid gardener and especially enjoyed working in her garden at her new found home in Powder Springs, Ga.. She was a faithful, active member of the Paulding County Senior Center, where she sang in the choir, volunteered serving the senior’s lunch, in addition to volunteering at McGarity Elementary reading to the Pre-K classes and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever she could. Lee loved to cook, travel, read books, and simply enjoyed life by following her many grandchildren and great-grandchildrens sporting events and academic achievements. She will forever be remembered for her marvelous sense of humor, her caring spirit, and her unwavering faith and love of God, family, and friends.
Lee Garrison was the daughter of the late Caroline Doyle and Simon Doyle. She was the mother of Donna Lee Cooney and husband, Thomas J. Cooney of Douglasville, Ga. and Kerry L. Cancro and husband, Blaise R. Cancro of Hiram, Ga. and was predeceased by her son, Paul R. Garrison III. Also survived by sister Caroline Miller of Jersey City, and Simon J. Doyle of Old Bridge, and was predeceased by her sister, Rita Wands. She is also survived by seven granddaughters, Tracy Garrison-Seay and husband, Darryl Seay, Niangua, Missouri, Michele Craig and husband, Rodney Craig, Karen Wilson and husband, Terry Wilson, Koryne Cancro, Kristina Cancro, Kassidy Cancro and Kaylena Cancro; six great grandsons, Kyle Wilson, Jacob Wilson, Joshua Wilson, Jesse Wilson, and twins, Brad and Chad Craig, along with many nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the Benson Funeral Home, Dallas, Ga.
