Hoboken Historical Museum will host “The bloody history of the Pulaski Skyway”

Author and journalist Steven Hart will be at the Hoboken Historical Museum Sunday at 4 p.m. to speak about the history of the Pulaski Skyway.
Hart’s talk is part of the museum’s exhibit on the 85th anniversary of the opening of the Holland Tunnel and the 75th anniversary of the opening of the Lincoln Tunnel. Hart, a former Hudson County resident, is the author of “The Last Three Miles: Politics, Murder, and the Construction of America’s First Superhighway” (The New Press), a critically acclaimed account of a little-known chapter of American history.
Copies of “The Last Three Miles” will be on sale in the museum gift shop, and Hart will be available to sign purchased copies.

Hudson School Theater will host staged reading

The Hudson School Theater, at 601 Park Ave., will host a staged reading of “Uncle Philip’s Coat,” a play from Emmy award-winning writer Matty Selman.
The play was selected as a Herbert Berghof Memorial Play, and is included in the permanent collection of the National Foundation for Jewish Culture.
The reading will take place at the school’s theater Thursday, June 28 and Friday, June 29 at 8 p.m. play stars Frank Rosner and is directed by Minna Packer.

Party with Purpose to host 5K next month

Party with Purpose will host a 5K race in Hoboken Tuesday, July 17 along the waterfront. The event will support local youth charities, including the Jubilee Center and the Hoboken Boys & Girls Club.
A fun run and other special kids events will take place before the runners begin at 3:30 p.m., and an after-party will be held in Pier A Park.
Registration is $25 by July 1, and $30 after. The race will begin at 7 p.m. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers per age group.

20th Annual National Night Out scheduled for Aug. 7

The 20th Annual National Night Out events will take place in Hoboken on Tuesday, Aug. 7
Hosted by Hoboken Police Chief Anthony P. Falco Sr., the event aims to heighten crime and drug awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnership, and send a message to criminals to let them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
