The Hudson Reporter has launched 07030, a semiannual lifestyle magazine that co-publishers Lucha Malato and Dave Unger promised will offer “readable, lively stories about all aspects of Hoboken life.” The magazine will begin appearing on doorsteps, newsstands, and in many locations throughout the Mile Square city this week.
“Hoboken is for families. It’s for club-hopping singles, hard-working commuters, empty-nesters, newcomers, and native-born lifers,” said Unger. “Wherever you find yourself on this continuum, we think you’ll find something that grabs you in 07030.”
For years, celebrities have been drawn to the convenience and comfort of Hoboken. The city is home to reality TV stars like the Manzo brothers and to broadcast news luminaries like the Today Show’s Natalie Morales, both of whom were profiled in this issue by reporter and Hoboken resident Amanda Staab.
“Todd Abramson, the guy responsible for booking all those great bands at Maxwell’s, will be writing a column for us on new sounds and up-and-coming talent,” said Malato.
The magazine will have a number of regular features. The “How We Work” and “How We Live” departments highlight innovative entrepreneurs and great homes.
“We’ll always be looking for fabulous spaces for ‘How We Live,’ and will be counting on 07030 readers to help us find them,” said Malato.
‘We cover the town’
The Mile Square’s baby boom will be featured in stories for and about young families. In the first issue 07030 reporter Arlene Phalon Baldassari shares 10 things to do with your kids in Hoboken before they are too embarrassed to be seen with you, and the magazine asks the much-asked question,” Is it OK to put your kid on a leash?”
Readers will be encouraged to offer feedback and share their story ideas by e-mailing the editorial staff at 07030@hudsonreporter.com.
In “Point and Shoot,” they’ll have an opportunity to share photos that they think really say Hoboken – like the kids and firefighters on the premier cover. “If your photos were taken in 07030, they might end up in 07030,” said Unger.
In the “Working Out With” department, writers will interview Hobokenites while they’re in the weight room, on the yoga mat, or shooting baskets. “If you can speak and spin at the same time, you might find yourself in our pages,” said Malato.
“Look for 07030 this week—on the street, on your doorstep, in your favorite salon, store, restaurant, bar, barbershop, or doctor’s office,” said Unger. “In more ways than one, we cover the town.”
