Macy’s July 4 fireworks to explode over Hudson River again; Katy Perry will headline

HUDSON COUNTY — Despite lobbying from Brooklyn activist groups for Macy’s to move their annual July 4 Independence Day fireworks show to the East River, the show will again will take place in the Hudson River this year, starting around 9:20 p.m.
The show began appearing in the Hudson in 2009, after three decades on the East River.
The best views will be from the waterfronts of Hoboken, Weehawken, and other Hudson County waterfront communities, including parts of West New York, North Bergen, Guttenberg, and Jersey City. Weehawken and Hoboken often close certain streets in order to deal with the traffic and crowds.
The show will be telecast on NBC.
It was announced on Tuesday that the show will this year include music stars Katy Perry (who sings the song “Firework”) and Kenny Chesney.
Macy’s fireworks website is located here.
