Dare Day was in full effect

The township held its annual Dare Day celebration on Wednesday, May 30. The event began at 9:30 a.m. and went on until 2 p.m. Over 700 fifth grade students graduated from the anti-drug program. The graduated students spent the day at the North Bergen Recreation Center at 6300 Meadowview Ave., where there were musical performances, games, rides, refreshments and much more available for the Dare graduates. The annual event also featured a performance by Lori Michaels and her “Reach Out” anti-drug awareness group, a rock-climbing wall, demonstrations by the U.S. Army, a dribble, pass, shoot clinic sponsored by the NJ Red Bulls and much more.

Debate Club to meet at the North Bergen Public Library

The debate club will meet on Thursday, June 7 from 4-5 p.m. Grades 6 through 12 are welcome. The library is located on 8411 Bergenline Avenue in North Bergen.

Breakfast to honor fathers

The Lady of Fatima Knights of Columbus’ round table will host a breakfast on June 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Gorman Hall, which is directly below Our Lady of Fatima Church on 80th Street and Kennedy Boulevard. The breakfast will honor fathers along with those giving a father’s love but all are welcome to attend. Treat your father or the family to a great breakfast made by the knights of the parish. Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit the parish and the food pantry. Tickets are $10 per adult and $5 per child. Tickets can be purchased after the masses, at the rectory or by contacting knight Andy at (201) 867-7080.

Teaching seniors fire prevention

On Tuesday, June 12 at 7 p.m. the North Bergen Fire Prevention Bureau will be at the Cullum Towers at 6299 Grand Ave. Seniors will be taught what to do if they have a fire in their high-rise building. Three firefighters do a presentation in English and Spanish to be sure that everyone understands the important instructions for fire prevention. For further information call (201) 392-2100.
