To bravery and devoted services

Dear Editor:
I must express my heartfelt feelings to have participated in a recent event sponsored by Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy, Fire Director Armando Roman, Fire Chief Darren Rivers and the members of the Jersey City’s bravest-the firefighters in the city. This event was held to assist the families of the devastating fire that occurred in April, 2012 on Claremont Avenue.
The event was pouring out of concern and kindness for the families who virtually lost all their possessions in the fire, we thank the Lord that there were no fatalities and all were able to exit the buildings with the assistance of the Jersey City Fire Department. These brave men and woman protect our lives and property on a daily basis and assist in all health emergencies. In fact also recently a baby’s life was saved by the efforts of the JCFD. All one had to do at this event was to look into the eyes of the families that once resided on Claremont Avenue and see their desperation but also a glimmer of hope due to the outpouring.
As a retired New Jersey State Trooper Captain and former Sheriff of Hudson County it is my honor to, on a daily basis, possess great administration, respect and appreciation for the uniformed services, fire, police, and emergency medical services . We all need to recognize their bravery and devoted services to all of us in all towns.

Respectfully,
Juan M. Perez
Retired New Jersey State Trooper Captain,
Former Sheriff of Hudson County
