UNION CITY – Union City Housing Authority Director Virgilio Cabello confirmed Friday morning that the Federal Bureau of Investigations had been to the housing authority earlier this week to obtain further records pertaining to the subpoena the authority was served on April 30.
A special housing authority board meeting was held at 12 p.m. on Friday, during which the board’s attorney Libero Marotta moved to hold a thirty minute private session in order to “discuss litigation,” he said.
When the housing board resumed public session, they unanimously approved a resolution giving Marotta the power to speak with attorneys in order for them to advise the board whether special counsel should be obtained in regard to the subpoena.
On May 4, Cabello stated to the Reporter that the housing authority itself was not the target of the subpoena, and that the authority would work in full cooperation with the F.B.I. – Gennarose Pope
